Troop Strength Guide
Master the art of building and strengthening your troops
Troop Types and Counters

Understanding troop interactions is crucial to success:
- Infantry: Counters Archers, weak against Cavalry.
- Cavalry: Counters Infantry, weak against Archers.
- Archers: Counters Cavalry, weak against Infantry.
Pro Tip: Always scout your enemy's troop types before attacking to ensure your troops have the upper hand.
Building Your Castle
Your castle is the core of your kingdom. To progress, focus on:
- Never use green speedups for building: Green speedups are specific for training and producing troops; only use them for troop production to maximize their value.
- Upgrading the Castle Level: Unlock new features and improve overall strength. However, castle upgrades don't directly make your troops stronger. Focus on balancing building upgrades until you reach Level 22 to unlock T8 troops and Unit Tactic Skills.
Let me clarify: Increasing your castle doesn't directly make your troops stronger. Focus on troop strength instead of just upgrades.
Producing Troops
Once you reach Castle Level 22 and upgrade your Barracks, focus on producing as many troops as possible. Key tips:
- Main Troops First: Prioritize producing your main troop type. Mixing troop types dilutes your strength.
- Event Preparation: Save speedups for troop production during events for maximum rewards.
- Troop Sets: Aim for at least six full sets of your main troops to participate effectively in events like BOS and VC.
Increasing Troop Strength
There are multiple ways to boost your troop strength:
Institute Research
- Maximize Military Research: Focus on attack, defense, and health for your main troop type. Once maxed or restricted by castle level, shift focus to other troop types.
Sauroi Military Skills
- Runestones: You can obtain Runestones from Mystery Shops, participation in events like Hell Fortress, and a few other events.
- Prioritize Your Main Troop Type: Max out your main troop type first before focusing on others.
- Praise the Dragon: Use Runestones earned through praising the dragon. Be sure to select the middle option for optimal results.
Glory
- Earn Glory Points: Participate in alliance events and complete daily quests to earn Glory points.
- Redeem Glory Items: Use the Pit Exchange to redeem Glory items.
Gear
- Focus on Gear Specific to Your Troop Type: Infantry players should prioritize gear that enhances infantry attack, defense, and health.
- Enhance Gear: Use Spinels and Shards to promote and enhance gear. Prioritize promotion for two pieces that directly boost main troop attack, and enhance the remaining gear using Spinels and Shards as allowed.
Gem and Saurgem
- Priority for Gear: Always give first priority to gear when you have Spinels and Shards available. If you have to choose between gear and other upgrades, always prioritize gear.
- Troop-Specific Gems: There are six troop-specific Gems for Infantry, Ranged, and Cavalry, and five Saurgems available (unless you reach Castle 32).
- Focus on Equipping Gems and Saurgems: Equip Gems and Saurgems that boost attack, defense, and health for your main troop type. These provide substantial stat enhancements that directly improve combat performance.
- Upgrade Saurgems: Enhance Saurgems to improve troop-specific stats, focusing on attack for your main troop type. These upgrades also enhance defensive and offensive capabilities. Allocate Spinels and Shards wisely to maximize efficiency.
Warsigil
- Focus on Three Sections: For Warsigil, concentrate on three sections, as each section affects your main stats.
- Increase Might: Warsigil significantly boosts your might, so even focusing on it is important.
Saurgil
- Boost Stats: Even with Saurgil, you can boost your stats significantly. It's a time-consuming process, depending on which Saurgil you obtain.
- Dependence on Luck: Saurgil depends on luck and the amount of Crystal you save to obtain it.
- Save Enhance Items: Preferably, save your Enhance items for Saurgil that increases main attack stats.
- Focus on Shards: Focus on acquiring shards that promote your troop attack type in Neptune.
Talent
- VIP 10 for Free Talent Reset: You need VIP 10 to unlock free Talent resets, which help in shifting whenever you need it.
- Balance When Not Attacking: Keep your Talent balanced when you're not attacking anything. When you need your troops, shift it to military for more attack.
- Shifting Back: You can even launch your troop to attack and shift back immediately if you need balance buffs.
- Focus on Your Troop Type: Focus on your troop type and key buffs to maximize efficiency.
Heroes, Curios, and Runes
Hero Buffs
- Use Five Heroes for Attacks: Four of your main troop type and one combo hero (e.g., Aleria). Avoid using five heroes of the same type, as one buff won't activate.
- Level Requirements for Unlocking Buffs:
- 2-Star Heroes: Level 31
- 3-Star Heroes: Level 71
- 4- and 5-Star Heroes: Level 131
Hero Development Tips
- Upgrade Heroes' Skills: Ensure you upgrade heroes' skills aligned with your troop type to maximize their effectiveness.
- Synergy Between Heroes: Utilize the synergy between heroes that boost attack, defense, or health for specific troop types.
- Level 131 and Attack Buffs: At Level 131, most heroes give attack buffs. If you don't upgrade and use them at that level, you'll miss out on an attack buff.
- Every Hero Matters: Every hero of your troop type is important to develop. Have a clear goal in mind for which hero you want as your main and save fragments to enhance it to the next level.
- Upgrading vs Enhancing: Upgrading a hero to the next level doesn't provide new troop skills, but enhancing does.
- Focus on Your Main Troop's Heroes: Once your main troop's heroes are developed, shift focus to the next troop type. Even 4-star heroes can give more attack buffs if your 5-star attack level and tactical skills are lower.
Hero Recommendations
- For Infantry: Fuga is great to develop at 4*.
- For Ranged: Deeode is good to develop at 4*.
- For Cavalry: Apollo is good to develop at 4*.
Economy and Troop Size Heroes
Now, focus on your Economy heroes. Start by gathering fragments for your main five heroes. Then, focus on gathering fragments for Economy heroes. Economy heroes provide many free buffs even when not in rallies. Upgrade them to the maximum level so that they can activate all buffs. Once enhanced, these buffs increase significantly.
- Lira and Ammon: Provide rally size buffs, which are essential for a larger rally size.
- Ryska: Offers buffs such as Training Speed, Stamina Cost Reduction, and Training Cost Reduction, saving you a lot of time and resources.
- Horus: Provides buffs for Food Output, Infirmary Heal Speed, and Infirmary Capacity.
Troop Size Heroes
Troop size directly impacts damage dealt and attack power. You can increase troop size through Castle Upgrades, Research, Talents, and Sauroi.
- Anubis: Available via Trial Challenges, providing buffs like Troop Size, Gathering Speed, and Infirmary Heal Speed, making him great for campaigns.
- Nilesh and Hart: These 4-star heroes significantly increase troop size.
- Nefertari: Also provides troop size buffs.
- Animus: Obtainable from Hell Events (though ranking is challenging), Animus offers substantial troop size buffs.
- Michael: A rare hero requiring savings during events like Treasure Map to gather fragments.
- Lucifer and Savannah: Premium heroes that require real money purchases and are not available otherwise.
Passive Troop Attack from Economy Heroes
Some Economy heroes give passive troop attack, which is often overlooked. Passive troop attack boosts your current main troop attack. You can increase it through the following:
- Institute Research: Available once you have a Level 28 castle.
- Warsigil and Talent: Develop these to boost troop attack.
- Blessings: Enhance gear, gems, Saurgems, Saurgil, and Glory to further improve troop attack.
Notable Economy Heroes for Passive Troop Attack and Defense
- Void Walker: Provides passive troop attack
ul> .- Void Walker: Provides passive troop attack
- Nephthys, Maigret: Offer passive troop attack buffs.
- Garlib: Provides passive troop defense.
- Ebony: Provides passive attack for all troop types, including Infantry, Ranged, and Cavalry. Fragments for Ebony can be obtained via Banner Brawl or BOS.
- Viridis: This Ranged hero also gives passive troop attack.
Curios and Runes
Curios and Runes provide additional buffs depending on which curio and runes you craft. The stats depend on which hero curio you craft. Epic curios give the best troop strength and hero buffs, depending on the hero curio you obtain. However, this is largely dependent on luck.
Final Words
Focusing on your main troop type, optimizing research, and developing heroes are the keys to success in Puzzles and Conquest. Keep strategizing and growing stronger. Stay tuned for future guides that will cover events and advanced strategies. Good luck!
